Northwoods Report - Despite the heat and some unforeseen external forces, everyone returned from Northwoods in one piece. 15 merit badges were earned and 27 partials. A big THANKS to the following adults for giving up their time, sleep, blood, sweat, and tears: Lois Sanderson, Glenn DeYoung, Debbie Haggerty, Karen Howe, Steve Momber, and Tony Kuhlman.
Seabase Report - Hurricane Dennis sent our scuba crew home a bit early and stirred up the water for a few days for the sailing crews but everyone made it home safely and unscathed with great stories and wonderful pictures. Alright, I'm a little bit scarred from the shark encounter but it was all worth it to touch Johnny Depp!
Potential Eagle Scouts - Adults will be available to do an informal review of your Eagle Workbooks prior to council submission. Come to this months patrol leaders meeting on 8/23 for assistance.
Service Work Opportunity - Contact Edie Kentner (627-9950) if you can volunteer at the August 6 Island Art Fair. They need boys between 10 and 5 for any amount of time you can provide.
Annual Fall Picnic at Heritage Park - Bring a Dish to pass for 8-10 people, and your own plates, utensils, napkins, and beverages for our end of summer/beginning of the school year picnic at Heritage Park in Wacousta. The troop will provide dogs, buns, and condiments. Bring bug spray and a lawn chair for the Court of Honor following the potluck. Mark - make certain you bring a flashlight because it is going to be DARK.

Annual Fall Picnic at Heritage Park Bring a Dish to pass for 8-10, and your own plates, utensils, napkins, and beverages for our end of summer/beginning of the school year picnic at Heritage Park in Wacousta. The troop will provide dogs, buns, and condiments. Bring bug spray and a lawn chair for the Court of Honor following the potluck. Mark make certain you bring a flashlight because it is going to be DARK. Also, Mrs. Ballou will have the Younker's fundraiser coupon books at this meeting. You may sign up to sell as many as you want, or none at all.
Oct. 14 - 16 (Friday PM through Sunday AM) Mawanjidiwin Camporee at Camp Kiwanis in Mason. We need parents to volunteer for this event. The theme is "Cooking" and many scouts should be able to earn or complete their Cooking merit badge at this event.
FUNDRAISING, FUNDRAISING, FUNDRAISING!
We have 3 fundraisers coming up:
1. Younker's Community Day Coupons - You sell these Community Day coupon packs for $5. The profit on each one is $5. Yes, you heard it right - the value is $5 for the customer and your profit is the $5 purchase price. Younkers' profit is that a bunch of people come and shop on Nov. 19 and spend their coupons that day. The booklet includes a $5 off coupon for Younkers for Sat. Nov. 19 as well as 6 other coupons and some special offers. If you choose to do this fundraiser, you must report your sales to Mrs. Ballou by Nov. 1 and turn in all unsold coupon packets to her by Nov. 8. If you do not return the unsold packets, you will need to pay $5 each for them.
2. Popcorn - the ever-popular popcorn sale is almost here! The sale begins Sept. 30 and ends Nov. 17. Deb Lea is our Popcorn Kernel and will be providing information soon.
3. Christmas Wreaths and Tree Coupons: This is our troop's biggest fundraiser, with the most "bang for the buck"! We will provide order forms to you for Christmas wreaths to take pre-orders. These Wacousta-produced wreaths are very popular and can help you build your scouting activity account for those high adventure activity costs.
Tuesday, Sept. 13 - Regular meeting, except wear Class A uniform. Many scouts are ready for advancements and need to wear full Class A uniforms for their Board of Review.

We DESPERATELY need volunteers for the first Masonic Fish Fry on Friday, October 14th. If you are NOT participating in the Camporee or Grand Ledge Homecoming, we need your help. At least two scouts and one adult are needed. Please contact Mrs. Kromer (626-7210) if you are available. Remember, every scout in the troop must volunteer at least once for this activity.
Oct. 14 - 16 (Friday 6pm through Sunday 12pm) Mawanjidiwin Camporee at Camp Kiwanis in Mason. The theme is "Cooking" and many scouts should be able to earn or complete their Cooking merit badge at this event. We will be doing meal planning and campsite layout training at the first two October meetings. There are many ways to compete for points at this camporee and most of them involve FOOD! We will be meeting at the Wacousta Township Hall at 6pm Friday and traveling down to Kiwanis. Boys will be returned hopefully by noon on Sunday. Pack multiple layers of warm clothes, rain gear, sleeping bag, pad, and pillow, flashlight, personal toiletries, and a mess kit. Label anything you want back.
Philmont: Second Philmont payment of $235 is due to Mrs. Ramm by Friday, October 7th. There will also be a brief meeting at 7:45pm on Tuesday, October 11th to discuss the "IronPerson Regardless of the Weather Backpack/Camping" weekend, November 11-13.

FUNDRAISING, FUNDRAISING, FUNDRAISING!
1. Popcorn - the ever-popular popcorn sale is HERE! Everyone should have received an information letter in the mail this week. The sale begins Sept. 30. Contact Mrs. Lea (627-9860) if you want to pick up and sell before next Tuesday. Otherwise, each scout
must pick up their popcorn at the Tuesday, October 4th troop meeting. PLEASE attend or send a family member so that Mrs. Lea doesn't transport it all to the church and then end up taking it all back to her garage.
2. Younker's Community Day Coupons - Sell these Community Day coupon packs for $5. The profit on each one is $5. Yes, you heard it right - the value is $5 for the customer and your profit is the $5 purchase price.
